Itinerary

The Nubian Museum is considered one of the most important museums in Egypt. Tailor your private tour and study objects recovered from tombs, temples, and settlements in Nubia. Hear about the museum's impressive construction and its striking design, which won the Agha Khan Award for Architecture. Your guide tells you about the museum's history and the plentiful treasures that Nubia enjoyed over time. The museum's first construction took place in the 1960s on the Aswan High Dam, but Egyptologists, architects, and UNESCO quickly noticed that rising tides would destroy the museum and its valuable relics, so it was moved to the city of Aswan. Today's Nubian Museum was opened in 1997, and its impressive construction won the Aga Khan Award for Architecture in 2001. Explore its interiors and discover objects recovered from tombs, temples, and settlements in Nubia. The museum offers more than 3,000 antiquities to see, representing eras including the Geological, Pharaonic, Roman, Islamic, and Coptic. Let your guide point you in the direction of the 90 rare monumental pieces and 50 invaluable relics dating back to prehistoric times. End your day with a stroll in the museum's large Natural Botanical Garden, where you admire its large variety of Egyptian flora.
